Naseby gets funding for tourist info board

Keeping visitors in Naseby longer is the aim of a promotions grant from the Maniototo Community Board to Naseby Vision.

Naseby Vision members Elly Campbell and Meg Garner members spoke to the board in the public forum at its meeting last Thursday.

They were seeking $2500 for the design, installation and consent fees for a new information map sign.

The sign would be installed near the toilets as that was where most people stopped on arrival, Ms Garner said.

They had noticed a lot of visitors did not go any further, and turned around and left the village.

The sign would highlight points of interest in the area and encourage people to visit them and stay longer, she said.

The board agreed and voted to award the grant, subject to Central Otago District Council staff approval of the design and consent being granted.
