Alexandra visitor numbers were well up last month, according to the latest figures.
There was a 15.8% rise in visitors to the Alexandra I-Site in April compared with the corresponding month last year.
Visitor Information Centres manager Ingrid Temple said 6468 visitors had been through the centre during the month.
She attributed the increase to Otago Central Rail Trail travellers and motorhome rally attendees who stayed on in the district.
A 44% rise in transactions from last April resulted in revenue rising $29,406 (21%).
The Cromwell I-Site saw a 9% decrease in numbers, although retail sales were up 11%.
In Roxburgh, there was a 77% fall in traffic at the visitor centre, possibly because of changed hours.
Maniototo Visitor Centre had an increase of 101% in visitors compared with last year and revenue rose 29%.
