Long term plan consultation has again been delayed in Central Otago after a "technical accounting issue" was found by auditors.
The Central Otago District Council issued a statement Thursday afternoon saying it would further delay the start of the 2025-34 long term plan consultation to fulfil auditing requirements.
On Wednesday, following the council meeting held in Ranfurly, the council was informed by the auditor of a technical accounting issue relating to the LTP consultation document.
The problem was around how the council recognised the transfer of Three Water assets from the accounts when water service delivery changes came into effect in 2027, the statement says.
That resulted in changes to the financials, financial strategy and consultation document, which would have to be reviewed by the Auditor General before the extraordinary council meeting, previously planned to take place yesterday.
The meeting was rescheduled to Monday. It is expected the consultation will begin on April 1 and run for a month with public meetings to be held as already advertised, the statement says. — APL
