Local extras in TV show

Alexandra will get a shot at stardom through an Australian TV show this month, but the production company is staying tight-lipped on the details.

Matchbox Pictures will begin filming in the town next week.

The project's New Zealand spokeswoman, Tamar Munch, said the company was not ready to release any information about the series at this stage.

It did not want to disclose how much of the show would be filmed in the town.

Still Vision Casting, of Queenstown, held auditions in Alexandra earlier this month to find 20 to 50 extras for a ''social/bar'' scene.

In online advertisements it said it sought 18- to 60-year-olds to play extras including a barmaid and guitarist.

The scene would be shot in the town from Monday to Wednesday next week, it said.
