The event was hosted by Alexandra Combined Churches as an alternative to Halloween.
Six of the town’s churches planned child-friendly events that earned treasure-hunt clues, all leading to a final destination where photographs taken along the way were distributed and a sausage sizzle for the intrepid adventurers was held.
Organising committee chairwoman Sarah More said the Light Trail was an alternative for families to have fun together, rather than celebrating Halloween.
"Halloween is typically about darkness, but as Christians we celebrate the light," she said.
