Investigation of officer completed

The investigation of a Central Otago police officer has been completed but no further details can be made public at this stage, southern district operations manager Inspector Lane Todd said yesterday.

"We know where we're heading but I'm not at liberty to discuss that publicly at this stage," he said.

The officer was stood down from duties in early March, on full pay, and that was still the case.

Insp Todd said the three-month investigation had been completed "and there will be a process we follow through with very shortly".

He declined to elaborate on that process or on any details of the investigation or the allegations that had been made.

Insp Todd also declined to say where the officer was based or anything which might identify the person.

The Independent Police Conduct Authority had been advised and would review the police investigation and the outcome.

The report on the matter had not been sent to the authority yet, he said.

"There's still a process we need to go through yet."
