Illness hits skier’s campaign

New United States  cross-country ski team member Campbell Wright, of Lake Hāwea, has had a horror start to his IBU World Cup campaign this northern hemisphere season.

Pisa Alpine Charitable Trust spokesman John Burridge said illness had affected Wright’s recent World Cup races in Sweden and Italy.

The IBU World Cup circuit continues with more races in Europe and North America during January and February before it finishes in Canmore, Canada, in mid-March.

Wright took up biathlon at the Snow Farm when he was a pupil at Mount Aspiring College.

The dual-national competed as a "lone ranger" for New Zealand at the Beijing Winter Olympics before changing allegiances to the United States and being selected for the US team.
