Crowmell Swim Centre is proving popular since its $3.3 million upgrade.
About 300 people went through the complex on Saturday, making the most of a free swim day.
The pool officially opened last Thursday, although the lap pool and toddlers pool have been open for public use since Christmas.
New features include a therapeutic pool, fitness centre, toddlers' pool with a waterfall and a spa pool.
Central Otago District Council has appointed a district aquatic centres manager, Nic Smith.
The previous manager of the Cromwell Swim Centre, Trevor Young, finished at the pool on April 17 and Wayne Hurley has been appointed team leader.
CODC chief executive John Cooney said Mr Young would be working in assets, but he declined to elaborate.
‘‘He's starting when he gets back from holiday,'' Mr Cooney said.
‘‘He's had a long experience with plants and maintenance issues that make him very competent and a valuable member of staff in the areas he is going to work in.''
Mrs Smith will manage the pools at Ranfurly, Roxburgh, Clyde, Alexandra, Cromwell, Patearoa, Millers Flat and Ophir.
‘‘I have been appointed by the Central Otago District Council as manager of all the pools in Central Otago, '' Mrs Smith said.
More people had been using the Cromwell pool since its upgrade, she said.
‘‘Dino'', the giant inflatable and ‘‘Timmy Turtle'' had been borrowed for the weekend from the Molyneux Aquatic Centre - the Alexandra pool.
They were appreciated by the children and spectators alike who visited the pool free of charge on Saturday.
‘‘There would have been more [swimmers] than our usual weekend.'' Mrs Smith said.
Now it was available, the therapeutic pool was being used by the swimming club for younger children during winter and Cromwell College would also use the centre this term
More events would be scheduled for the fourth term once it had been confirmed everything was operating smoothly, she said.
