There were fun and games aplenty yesterday during an entertaining New Year’s Day in Naseby.
Hundreds of locals and visitors converged on the town for the annual Family Fun Day which has been a longtime tradition during the New Year period.
The event had games and activities including face painting, "Noddy" train rides, gumboot throwing and a slip and slide.
Capping off the event were several races across various age groups, from sprints to sack races and wheelbarrow racing.
The addition of further food vendors and a reintroduction of the car boot sale were other highlights of the day which organisers hoped broadened the appeal of the event.
Organiser Paul O’Sullivan said the event again had been bolstered by significant contribution from the local community.
"It’s not a financially-driven thing, it’s just a fun day out," he said.
"It’s great for the kids to have something to do and its great for the adults to have some fatty food to eat on New Year’s Day.
"We have a whole raft of locals who have come and chipped in and I think that’s the spirit of it."
