Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) is partnering with community development group Naseby Vision to help reduce wildfire risk in Naseby.
The tiny town is situated "2000 feet above worry level" next to a forest owned by Earnslaw One.
Fenz initiated the meeting to provide education and tips about how to reduce the impact of a fire on people and properties.
In October 2020, the alpine settlement of Ohau was devastated by wildfires that burned out of control for nine days.
While 48 homes and buildings were destroyed, no lives were lost trough the quick actions of Ohau residents who actioned the community’s wildfire plan.
Fenz says "vital lessons" could be learnt from the Ōhau fire and the organisation is keen to share its knowledge with Naseby people.
The meeting will outline the risks and steps that can be taken to protect property and the township.
The public meeting is at 1pm on Saturday, March 30, in the Naseby Town Hall.
