The group has launched an engagement campaign which its chairman hopes will form the basis of a lake development plan.
Chairman Duncan Faulkner said he hoped visitors to the lake would take some time to provide feedback over the summer break.
"While they’re down at the lake, walking around with their families, out boating, out fishing, is to take a moment and reflect on
what they like and dislike and what can be improved upon."
A website went live this week, with the goal of gathering views from residents.
Mr Faulkner said the main issues facing Lake Dunstan were weeds, silting and the foreshore which had been "neglected".
The group had been in talks with Land and Information New Zealand (Linz), the Central Otago District Council, the Otago Regional Council and Contact Energy, although there was no formal
arrangement with these groups.
Mr Faulkner said he was hoping to present results of the campaign to key stakeholders in February.
