Excavator causes four-hour outage

An excavator was the cause of an unplanned outage which left over 100 Central Otago Aurora Energy customers without power earlier this week.

An Aurora Energy spokesman said the outage was caused by an excavator making contact with an overhead line.

Aurora’s website showed the outage occurred in Teviot Rd, near Millers Flat.

The outage meant customers from Roxburgh to Beaumont Station Rd were without power for just under four hours.

The spokesman said the outage began at 10.30am on Wednesday and was resolved at 2.16pm.
