Dick and Janet Parker's central business property housed their two companies Ranfurly Auto and Ranfurly Bike Hire, as well as the couple's residential apartment.
The complex was destroyed by fire on March 8, and demolition of part of the property is due to begin on Tuesday.
Mrs Parker said the back of the section - where the most devastation occurred - would be cleared, although a 1940s art deco facade of the building would remain standing. The complex fronted Ranfurly's main street, and it was possible the facade could be strengthened and kept, she said.
Mrs Parker said a decision would be made in the next few months about whether to continue operating Ranfurly Auto from other premises.
Ranfurly Bike Hire was temporarily being run out of another commercial business and the Parkers remained in temporary lodgings.
"It's too early to say what will happen," she said.
The fire was believed to have started in the smoko room of the Parker's automobile workshop.
It also gutted a separate business being run out of the Parker's building, and partly damaged a neighbouring cafe.
The fire was not being treated as suspicious.
