Jed Nevill, Olivia Russell, both 17, Jack Steele, 16, — all from Maniototo — and Ellie McKenzie, 17, of Dunedin, will compete in the mixed team event. Nevill and Russell will also compete in the mixed doubles.
The squad had been spending hours training on the ice at the Naseby Indoor Curling Rink.
‘‘I can’t wait to get to the Winter Youth Olympics. We’re ready to perform and it’s going to be an amazing experience," Russell said.
The four athletes will head to the Games brimming with confidence after attending a World Curling Academy youth training programme in Norway in August.
Steele said he had developed his style in Norway.
"My whole curling technique completely changed. We learnt so much over there and I’m really excited to put that into practice in Gangwon.
‘‘Ever since I was 13 I wanted to do this. It’s pretty crazy that it’s happening — it’s a real dream come true," he said.
Nevill and Russell would represent New Zealand at the under-21 World Junior B Championships in Finland next month, further adding to their international experience before the Winter Youth Olympics.
New Zealand Olympic Committee chief executive Nicki Nicol congratulated the curlers.
Bella Stewart, of Dunedin and William Day, of Auckland were selected as non-travelling reserves.
Gangwon 2024 will be a celebration of sport, competition, culture and education with the Games being held in four cities in Gangwon province.
