New Zealand Curling Association secretary Peter Becker said curlers were coming from throughout the country, and one from Australia, to compete for places on six national men's and women's teams.

New Zealand is hosting the 2008 Pacific championships in Naseby at the indoor curling rink from the November 1-9, and Dunedin will host the world senior championships for over 50s from April 24-May3, 2009.
