The brakes are still on future development at the Alexandra airport until a decision is made about an upgraded water supply at the site.
More information was needed before it could reach a decision, the Central Otago District Council said this week.
''We can't find a solution here,'' Central Otago Mayor Tony Lepper said, after the council considered a report on the matter.
In his report to the meeting, council property and facilities manager Mike Kerr said commercial hangar and hangar/apartment development at the airport was being delayed because of the need for a new and reliable water supply.
Resource and building consents for hangars could not be granted until the water supply was upgraded.
However, more investigation had to be done to firm up the options available for improving the water supply, Mr Kerr said.
Mr Lepper said although developers were waiting for a response, the council could not make a decision yet.
