Plans and an artist's impressions of the Cromwell Town Centre concept will be on display in Cromwell for two weeks beginning on Monday.

The town centre had been described by the committee preparing the Cromwell community plan as old and tired and in need of a facelift.

The upgrade plan prepared by Octa Associates features the establishment of a "High Street" for the CBD, the connection of Isles St to Murray Tce to improve flow, linkages between The Mall and the Sargood development, and signs.

A display will be set up in the Cromwell Information Centre in the The Mall from July 21 to August 1, and the Central Otago District Council (CODC) business manager Jonathan Gadd will be on hand to answer any questions on July 22 and July 29 from 9am to midday and on July 24 and 31 from 1-4pm.

The public will be able to view the concept plans and make submissions on the proposals.

Cromwell Community Board chairman Neil Gillespie said it was important to gain feedback from the community to develop a clear proposal that would serve as an attraction to Cromwell.

The full outline of the plan can be seen at the CODC's website www.codc.govt.nz
