''It's a relaxed, jolly, gin-and-tonic rally, not a race,'' participant Nick Channing, said.
Ruba Jurdi, of London, and Mr Channing, who lives near London, are pictured with his 1955 XK140 during a stopover in Clyde yesterday.
Mr Channing said the scenery, the people, the weather and the high standard of New Zealand roads were among the attractions of the 27-day trip.
Tour organiser Roger Williams, of Suffolk Jaguars, said the cars, valued at a total of more than $NZ1 million, took about six weeks to ship to New Zealand.
This was his eighth time hosting the tour and he focused on the South Island only ''because of all the beauty here''.
The tour started and will finish in Christchurch. Queenstown and Te Anau are on the itinerary for later this week, followed by Invercargill, Dunedin and Mt Cook.
