Organisers have started making preparations for the awards, which will be hosted in conjunction with the annual Across the Bridge in Bannockburn Festival, taking place in the first week of October.
Plans were under way, all organisers now needed were entries to start flowing in, co-organiser Heather McPherson said.
‘‘We welcome allcomers to develop their talents and share their designs and stories, through the joy, creativity and diversity of textile arts and crafts,’’ she said.
‘‘So let your creative juices flow and create a beanie — a brimless cap, which celebrates this diversity. They can be made of felt, yarn or any fabric, knitted, sewn, crocheted, macramed, woven or mixed media, and embellished with beads, embroidery [or] found objects.’’
She said there was no limit to the textures, height, patterns or character traits people could use.
The event will also feature a tea cosy section.
The theme for both beanies and tea cosies is ‘‘in our element — wind, earth, fire and water.
‘‘This year’s exhibition celebrates how these forces balance and weave communities together.’’
Registrations close on August 26 and entries close on Friday, September 27.
All entries will be placed on display at the Bannockburn Hall on October 5 to October 6.
