Her mother, who has been in Dunedin Hospital for about a month after fracturing her hip in a fall, "doesn't want to know" about the possible distinction of being the oldest.
This afternoon, Mrs Wilson will celebrate her birthday in hospital with her two daughters, son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs Frazer said her mother was keen to return to her home in Clyde as soon as possible.
Mrs Wilson would spend a couple of weeks in an Invercargill rest-home for further recuperation after being discharged from hospital on Monday.
Mrs Frazer said she had "no idea" whether her mother was the oldest New Zealand resident.
"[The Department of Internal Affairs] don't seem to be able to tell by the records they have got."
Last month, spokesmen for Statistics New Zealand and the Department of Internal Affairs told the Otago Daily Times it was difficultto determine New Zealand's oldest resident. Lena Ray (109) died in Auckland's North Shore on March 14.
She was believed to be New Zealand's oldest woman for about a month, following the death of Doris Mackintosh (109), of Christchurch, in February.
