The announcement was made yesterday by AMP Otago Financial Management spokesman Tony Chave at Mt Difficulty Wines, in Bannockburn.
Miss Rapley and runner-up Phillipa Stewart, of Dunedin, were chosen from 97 applicants, Mr Chave said.
"Both have clear goals and both are well on their way to achieving those goals," he said.
She said that goal would be realised by finishing on the podium at the Olympics and winning world cups.
"The nature of my goal comes down to meeting my financial obligations, which is the thin line between being able to spend the next four to six years achieving my goals, or not."
Ski racing was an expensive sport, she said.
"Receiving this money is really important as it costs my family and me between $25,000 and $30,000 a year to keep going."
As runner-up, Miss Stewart (21), who is in her final year studying classical ballet at the National Theatre Ballet School in Melbourne, will receive $1000.
Both women are eligible for the national AMP Scholarship, announced in October, where they could win a share of $200,000.
