Air Training Corps No 50 (Alexandra) Squadron has a camp site on Richard and Jacqui Parsons' farm and had discussed the possibility of having somewhere nearby to store equipment and to house an office, kitchen facilities and a bunk room.
After many years of discussion and nearly 1000 hours of volunteer labour, the almost-completed facility was "open for business" at the weekend.
Squadron Leader Jill Checketts said many groups and individuals helped with the project.
Alexandra Lions Club members had spent more than 270 hours on it and Air Training Corps members and those connected with the group had devoted about 700 hours to the project during the past two years.
Pilot Officer Aaron Thompson was a driving force behind the building and he had worked closely with Lions Club member Grant Sanders.
The building provided a base to complement adventure activities, such as a ropes course, which had been set up in the area to test and train Air Training Corps cadets.
Other youth groups were interested in using the facility as well, she said.
