An application seeking retrospective consent for schist quarrying at Earnscleugh has elicited nine submissions to the Central Otago District Council.
Queenstown company Steve Rout Contracting Ltd lodged its application with the council more than a year after its operation was shut down for breaching district rule plans.
Six of the submissions received opposed retrospective consent, two were neutral, and one suggested conditions of consent.
A hearing for the application is likely to be held in Alexandra in December.
In July last year, the council ordered Steve Rout Contracting to apply for retrospective consent or face enforcement action, when its quarrying activity at Fraser dam was closed pending the consent process.
The company had extracted 3000cu m of schist over an area of 10,000sq m, where extraction of material exceeding 3000cu m or 2000sq m was a discretionary activity under the district plan.
