More than half the parking tickets issued in Central Otago in the last financial year have not been paid.
Central Otago District Council roading manager Peter Greenwood said a total of 84 infringement notices were issued during the 2018-19 financial year.
Thirty-two had been paid, amounting to $1280, and 52 outstanding fines were a "work in progress".
None had been referred to court, he said.
Restricted parking zones and signs were introduced in Alexandra and Cromwell in 2007 and a roading bylaw, which introduced parking fines, took effect in 2015.
Following a two-year grace period, enforcement of car-parking restrictions began in 2017 and parking wardens operated periodically.
Mr Greenwood said wardens were not operating in the towns at present, but would be "throughout 2020".
