Sixty golfers had a rare chance to play at Michael Hill's private golf course near Arrowtown while supporting a good cause at the same time.
The funds raised at the charity golf event will go to Cure Kids' research programmes.
Mr Hill, who played in the event, is a long-time supporter of the Cure Kids charity.
He said opening the course for the event was also a way of showing gratitude to local golfers and the communities for their support at the NZ Open golf tournaments held at the course.
One of the highlights of the day was drawing a team to go on a helicopter flight to the top of the Remarkables to hit biodegradable balls off the mountain.
The winner, Rowdy Aitken, who owns Temuka Transport, invited team-mates Warick Norton, Mark Cameron and Roger Tweed along for the ride.
"It was an exiting and very different golf experience to have a swing up there," Mr Aitken said.
The helicopter ride was donated by Over the Top pilot and chief executive Louisa "Choppy" Patterson.
The Hills club, which has about 75 members, will host the New Zealand Open late next month for the third time.
