One person is dead after a car fire in Canterbury overnight.
Fire services were called to the blaze on Courtenay Road in Kirwee, 37km west of Christchurch, about 4.15am, a southern fire communications spokesman said.
Police confirmed the body of one person was recovered from the vehicle, but would not give further details.
