Three golf course appeals

Three appeals have been lodged against Parkins Bay Preserve Ltd's resource consent for Wanaka's second golf course proposed for Glendhu Bay.

They are:

• The Upper Clutha Tracks Trust, which seeks an amendment to resolve public access conditions. The appeal is very narrow and the trust remains neutral towards the consent outcome.

• Dennis Thorn, a Wanaka holiday home owner, who wants the majority decision granting consent set aside on grounds including it is not sustainable management of land, would create adverse precedent effects beyond the site and challenges the integrity of the district plan.

• The Upper Clutha Environmental Society, which also wants the majority decision set aside on similar grounds to Mr Thorn.

Independent Queenstown Lakes commissioners Neville Marquet and David Clarke approved the resource consent application in a decision dated May 1, while the third commissioner, Jane Taylor, declined the application.
