Juggling two jobs resulted in something having to give for Otago SPCA senior inspector Steph Saunders.
After due consideration, and some sadness, she gave up her position in Otago and accepted a position in the national inspectorate.
After 25 years at the Otago branch, it was not an easy decision to make.
However, much to her delight, she will remain based in Dunedin.
For the past year she has worked part-time for the Otago SPCA and part-time for the national body.
The workload for both jobs evolved into the equivalent of two full-time positions and giving up one "means I can focus".
Next month her role will consist of co-ordinating rural complaints for the South Island and carrying out administration for the Hokitika and Gore branches.
"I've always had a passion for animal welfare and I feel I can do more at a national level."
Internal promotion was being considered to fill her inspection role in Otago.
