Three Dunedin acts for NYE concert

New Year's Eve revellers in Dunedin will be partying without the Oxo Cubans for the first time in four years.

Dunedin City Council events team leader Marilyn Anderson yesterday released details of this year's $70,000 family-friendly show.

The line-up featured three Dunedin acts, beginning with roots band and Tui Award winners Delgirl at 9.30pm, followed by 10-piece funk band Soul Deep and, from 11pm, covers band Girl Friday, she said.

The party would include fireworks from the Civic Centre roof at midnight, but there was no mention of regular performers the Oxo Cubans, who played at each of the past four events organised by the council.

Mrs Anderson said the band had again been included on the list of possible acts, but it was understood the group was scheduled to play in Central Otago.
