The organisers of the New Zealand Mountain Film Festival have announced a new ice sculpting competition to be held from July 4-8.
Individuals or teams of up to four people will be given a 100cm x 50cm x 40cm block to carve into a work of art that reflects the festival's theme of adventurous sports and lifestyles.
A first place prize of $500 is offered.
Entries close on June 25.
The festival will feature 40 films, guests speakers, photographic exhibitions and a trade show.
