A man has admitted burgling several precious medals from the Waiouru Army Museum in late 2007.

The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary when he appeared in Auckland District Court this morning, The New Zealand Herald reported.

The charges relate to the theft of nine Victoria Crosses, two George Crosses and an Albert medal from the museum on December 2, 2007.

Name suppression continued for the man, who was remanded in custody.

Court proceedings are continuing for a second man charged over the burglary.
