The people
L and M Mining Ltd exploration manager David Manhire, of Christchurch, has been working on the project since it was first bought by the company almost 10 years ago.
Although based outside of Central Otago, Mr Manhire will be the point of contact for those leading the operation on the ground and will make regular trips to the site.
He is L and M's main liaison for the project.
Tony Dons:
Environmental and resource management consultant Tony Dons, of Dunedin, is tasked with facilitating a liaison committee established to monitor the project and work through any issues arising from its operation.
The committee, comprising L and M staff, local authority representatives, and Earnscleugh residents, was formed at a public meeting at the Earnscleugh Hall in May.
Mr Dons will chair the committee, which will discuss every step of the project and its effects on the local community and environment.
It will also inspect site operations and be updated on air, soil, and water monitoring results.
Prue Harwood:
Beca Infrastructure Ltd senior environmental engineer Prue Harwood, of Dunedin, used to work at the Otago Regional Council and was involved in writing many conditions of the original consents and permits for the mining project.
Her main focus will be monitoring and addressing any issues related to the effects of its operation on air, water, residents, and businesses in the area.
Mrs Harwood has established extensive monitoring sites and plans for the project.
Mike Coleman:
Mining contractor and project manager Mike Coleman, soon to be living at Alexandra, will oversee the mining itself as a contractor for L and M.
He will employ staff for the mining side of the operation, and report to L and M about its progress.
Mark Coleman:
Mine manager Mark Coleman, of Cromwell, will make sure on-site operations run smoothly and safely.
Mr Coleman, who is Mike Coleman's son, will be based on site and report directly to his father.
