Manager Cam Sheppard said the turnout for the open day was "just fantastic", and he described the feedback from those who visited as supportive and enthusiastic.
During the open day, visitors had a chance to see the new facility, which features a leisure pool, a lazy river, two hydro-slides, water features, a toddlers' area, an adult spa pool and a 25m lap swimming pool.
"Everybody's really quite proud of the facility," Mr Sheppard said.
"Obviously, they're all really looking forward to getting into it.
"The hydro-slides and the mountain were the focal points, particularly for the kids," he said.
They hydro-slides were turned on, although no-one was allowed to ride on them.
Despite that, the hydro-slides thrilled the visiting children, who were itching to get into their swimming togs and go for a slide.
Mr Sheppard said the opening of Alpine Aqualand was scheduled for on May 31.
However, the "real function" would be delayed until the completion of the proposed health and fitness centre.
The proposed centre would run parallel to the aquatic centre and the number one oval of the Queenstown Events Centre.
Staff working for the Alpine Aqualand completed their first aid training yesterday.
Mr Sheppard said they were looking forward to providing the community with its long-awaited swimming pool.
