New Zealand marathon mountain biking champion, Tony Hogg, of Dunedin, beat almost 700 other riders to win the fifth annual 12-hour Naseby Challenge on Saturday.
Hogg completed 24 laps of the 10km course, winning the solo men's section and racing the most laps of any individual rider during the event.
Fellow Dunedin riders Hannah Thorne and Micky Fan won the solo women's section and single speed section respectively, both completing 20 laps.
Held within the Naseby Forest and grounds of the Larchview Holiday Park, the competition ran from 9am to 9pm, with an emphasis on completing as many laps as possible, either in teams or individually.
Organised by Mountain Biking Otago, the race comprised a loop track which incorporated a water race, single track and 4WD tracks.
It also meandered through a tent village set up within the camping ground, which made for excellent viewing as competitors raced past supporters and opponents alike.
Race organiser Craig Bates, of Dunedin, said almost 700 competitors made up a record entry, with 158 teams and 43 individuals registered.
Mountain bikers from throughout the South Island took part, as well as some from Taupo and Wellington.
