Police recruit rape case dropped

A case of rape against a police recruit has been thrown out of court after a judge decided the woman was an unreliable witness.

Mark James Tulloch, 31, walked free after the decision by Justice Ronald Young in the High Court at Wellington today.

The solo-mother of three had alleged she was raped at her suburban Whitby house in April last year.

Tulloch and the woman had met on a website before meeting in person.

Two days of evidence had been heard before Justice Young's decision today.
