Students flock to enrol

More than 3000 University of Otago students completed course approval yesterday on the first day of the main university enrolment period.

John Price, the director, academic services, said that, as in previous years, the first main day of course approval had generally run "quite smoothly", despite yesterday's wet weather.

The number of students completing course approval yesterday was "very similar" to that on the equivalent day last year.

"And as usual, it's great to see this influx of students keen to begin their studies and to see the vitality their arrival brings to the campus atmosphere," Mr Price said.

Otago University Students Association president Edwin Darlow said the day had gone smoothly, with association officials running a help desk throughout the day.

Enrolment continues on Monday and Tuesday.
