The organiser of a wacky hat competition at Grants Braes School, Sandra McHenry, sits among pupils with their creations on display yesterday.
Flowers, feathers, food and a little bit of imagination allowed them to raise $150 for Relay for Life after pupils were invited to enter the competition with a gold-coin donation. All proceeds went to the cancer fundraiser.
Mrs McHenry, who will be participating in the relay today, judged the competition and was impressed with the effort some pupils had gone to.
By making their hats, they had helped other people and learnt what the relay was all about, she said.
