The opening of a 24-hour study centre will give some University of Otago students a much needed chance to cram before exams.
The study space, which offers free food, cheap printing and a walking bus for students living in North Dunedin was opened at the Otago University Students' Association (OUSA) Clubs and Societies building last night.
OUSA president Laura Harris said the study centre was a campaign the executive ran on last year.
"I couldn't think of a better way to give the students something practical during exam time than to create a space that is warm where they can study.''
The initiative was largely run by 15 volunteers, but two reception staff and a security guard had been hired to assist with the operation of the two-week study space.
Miss Harris believed the project would cost about $6000.
"So far the response has been extremely positive. I am expecting lots of organised class groups.''
Exams begin on June 8.
