Fifty members of the Holden family will gather at a reunion this weekend to honour their forefathers who originated from Port Chalmers.
Dr Helen Holden, one of the only members of the family still in Dunedin, said the main purpose of the reunion was to unveil a plaque and memorial in the Port Chalmers cemetery for six family members.
The oldest person to attend the reunion would be Harry Holden (94), of Wellington, who left Port Chalmers to serve in Egypt and Italy during World War 2.
