In an annual iD Fashion-inspired tradition, a piece of Dunedin fashion history has been added to a Toitu Otago Settlers Museum's display.

The dress, made of silk with hand-cut silk petals, was made by designer Charmaine Reveley for the iD finale in 2012.

It was "one of our most special pieces'', she said.

"I always loved it.''

Ms Reveley, originally from Canterbury, attended Otago Polytechnic in 2002 and now lives in Dunedin.
