Hundreds of Otago Daily Times readers put forward their favourite summer snaps for the Magic Moments photo competition, and now the winners can be revealed.
The three winners each receive a canvas print enlargement from Jonathon's Photo Warehouse.
Everyone who had a photo published can take the original file to Jonathon's Photo Warehouse to receive a free enlargement.
ODT illustrations editor Stephen Jaquiery said the three winners - Karl Rivett, Lois Davis and Lezanne Campbell - captured a moment in a family holiday to create a long-lasting memory.
‘‘And they bring a smile to your face.''
Mr Jaquiery said it was great to have the reader participation in the paper. His tip for budding photographers was to ‘‘try to take a photograph that makes you smile and feel good''.
Rick Ramsay, of Twizel, whose son-in-law Mr Rivett photographed his 18-month-old niece at the hot pools at Tekapo, said he was delighted the image of his granddaughter exploring the water had won a prize.
‘‘It's a waterfall that comes out from the pools and you can get in behind it. ‘‘We were trying to encourage her to come through it.''
The photo was taken with a cellphone camera.
His son-in-law recently moved from the United Kingdom to live in Dunedin, Mr Ramsay said.
More than 320 photos were submitted for the competition, of which 103 were published.
