Kaikorai continues to play a positive brand of cricket and it paid off with an impressive 55-run win against Green Island at Bishopscourt in the weekend.

Kaikorai 257 for seven dec. beat Green Island 202 by 55 runs

Kaikorai showed good intent throughout its innings and posted 257 for seven declared from 48.4 overs.

The early declaration bought Kaikorai the extra time it needed to pick up 10 Green Island wickets.

Former Otago player and Kaikorai captain Iain Robertson was outstanding with six for 75 and a hard-hit cameo of 40 from 33 deliveries.

All-rounder Geordie Scott was instrumental as well with three wickets and a quickfire innings of 34, and Hamish Robertson scored a valuable 53.

Matt Hunter set the tone at the top of the Kaikorai innings with 64 from 81 deliveries. He combined with Liam Cotton in a stand of 75 for the third wicket, which set the platform for Kaikorai's powerful middle order to rattle on some quick runs.

But the Swamp Rats had actually got into a good position at 120 for one before slumping to be all out for 202.

Nathan Watt was dismissed early but Gregor Croudis (86) and Scott Simpson put on 112 for the second wicket.

Robertson broke the partnership when Simpson holed out on 43 and he also secured the crucial wicket of Croudis.

The batsman was adjudged to have got a faint edge through to the keeper. The Green Island camp was not convinced he got that touch but Croudis' dismissal proved critical.

Albion 122 beat Taieri 96 by 26 runs

Every run counted in a low-scoring match between Albion and Taieri at Tonga Park No2.

Albion made a modest 122 thanks mostly to a critical partnership between Tom Dixon (26) and Daniel Duke (44). The pair combined in a second-wicket stand of 63, which was ultimately the difference between the two teams.

You would not think the 12 runs Roald Badenhorst made at the top of the innings would help a great deal but it did. So did the 11 runs Jack Harper scored from 31 balls and the 10 Stu Malthus contributed from 35 deliveries. Those 30-plus runs gave Albion the smallest amount of wriggle room in a game where ball utterly dominated bat.

Taieri's Regan Flaws was excellent with five for 24, and Otago quick Warren Barnes was also lethal with two for 23.

Taieri had a couple of early hiccups in its chase but Simon Cromarty (17) and Josh Tasman-Jones added a valuable 31 for the third wicket. Harper broke the partnership but Duke picked up the key wicket of Tasman-Jones for 45.

He was threatening to guide his side to victory but his departure proved to be a mortal blow. Taieri lost its last three wickets for just six runs to be dismissed for 96.

Duke finished with three for 12 from 3.3 overs and Richie Buchanan helped rip through the tail with three for seven from three overs.

NEV 205 for nine dec. beat Carisbrook-Dunedin 93 by 112 runs

North East Valley seamer Keegan Harrison bowled unchanged to take six wickets and help seal a comprehensive 112-run win for his side at Tonga Park.

Carisbrook-Dunedin could muster only a paltry 93 in reply to the target of 206 and that is despite Brad Rodden scoring an undefeated 73.

No-one could stick with Rodden. Five Carisbrook-Dunedin players made ducks, two others scored just one run and one other managed a dizzy brace.

Riki Aswell was the second-highest scorer for Carisbrook-Dunedin with a grand total of just eight runs.

Rodden excluded, it really was a dismal effort. Both sides have not been playing great cricket as of late but Valley got good service out of opener Fred Humphries, who scored 44.

He had good support from Hamish O'Brien (28) and Andrew Sim played well for 54, while Jamie Murley chipped in with 21 not out.

Craig Sneddon worked hard for his three for 69 for Carisbrook-Dunedin.
