The Otago Dancers have won the right to perform at Disneyland, in California, thanks to an audition video submitted to Disney Performing Arts OnStage.
The 14-member group will spend two weeks in California, with two performances at Disneyland and the rest of the time at two renowned dance schools.
Otago Dancers lead choreographer Xzenia Kutia said the dancers, some of whom taught at dance studios, had had little overseas experience.
''We're just people who love to dance.
''We do a lot of charitable events [and] a lot of the time we do it for free,'' Mrs Kutia (30) said. She had previously been to the US to dance and thought it would be a great experience for the group.
''I was just blown away. I had Beyonce's choreographer.
''The whole time I was there, I thought the girls in Dunedin need this opportunity to open their eyes to what's out there,'' she said.
''I would say performing on the world stage at Disneyland and being coached by famous choreographers [will be a highlight].''
The group combines ballet, modern jazz, and hip-hop into its routines.
The group raised $25,000 for the trip and leaves on January 4.
