A Chinese tourist has been charged with dangerous driving and another issued with infringement notices as a result of complaints from other motorists.
Sergeant Mark Gill, of Queenstown, said a 36-year-old man was stopped in Arrowtown about 6pm on Tuesday after he was earlier seen crossing the centre line on ''numerous occasions'' while driving a rental vehicle on State Highway 6 through the Kawarau Gorge.
''It caused oncoming vehicles to take evasive action,'' he said.
The man would appear at the Queenstown District Court on March 2 on a charge of dangerous driving.
His rental car agreement had been cancelled and he is not allowed to drive as a condition of his bail.
A 42-year-old Chinese tourist was issued with infringement notices about 10.30am on Tuesday after police responded to reports that he had driven the wrong way through two roundabouts in Frankton, including the prominent BP roundabout.
