Another week, another ton for Roald Badenhorst.
Albion 314 for 4 dec. beat North East Valley 80 by 234 runs
The fringe Volts bowler again showed his aptitude with the bat as he smashed a second consecutive century to lead Albion to a massive win over North East Valley at Tonga Park on Saturday.
Badenhorst scored an unbeaten 140 to go with his 108 against Kaikorai last week.
He scored his runs off 154 balls, belting 15 fours and five sixes, and sharing in partnerships of 161 for the second wicket (with Dan Duke), 49 for the third (with Jack Harper) and 63 for the fifth (with Nick Beard).
Duke nearly made it a double, falling agonisingly short of his own century.
He had reached 99 off 86 balls, including 11 sixes and just three fours, when he was caught by Simon Murley off the bowling of Jens Moller.
North East Valley's response was limp, and the end came in the 39th over.
Badenhorst added two wickets to his ton, but the star of the Albion attack was Beard, who has been taking a break from the first class scene to work on his action.
The left arm spinner tore through the middle and tail to finish with the outstanding figures of five for 16 off 10 overs.
OBHS 169 lost to Kaikorai 172 for four by six wickets
Geordie Scott and Matt Hunter performed a successful rescue act for the home side at Bishopscourt.
Kaikorai had slumped to 52 for four chasing a modest target but the pair put on an unbeaten partnership of 120 to romp to victory in the 37th over.
Hunter was the more aggressive, belting 11 boundaries in his 69 not out off 65 balls, with Scott adding 52 not out off 61 balls.
Will Hunter had done the damage for Otago Boys', taking three wickets in nine overs.
Earlier, the school team had a couple of players make starts as it rather crawled to 169 in 54.4 overs.
Blake Buttar Scurr made 50 off 93 balls (three fours, three sixes) and opener Jarryd Taig posted 31 off 75.
Kaikorai's Jackson Latham was exceptional with the ball, taking five for 32 off 13.4 overs.
The round is being split - two games on Saturday, and two this coming weekend - to allow club bowlers to be used in the nets for practising World Cup teams.
