It was opening day yesterday at Wakatipu's newest school, Shotover Primary.
The ranks of the school's 88 foundation pupils will swell throughout the year with at least another 30 children set to join the roll.
Construction of the remaining buildings that will comprise stage one of the school, which is located on 3ha of land at the Shotover Country residential development, will continue throughout the year.
