Alex Macmillan joins other riders at the annual Bike Breakfast at the Dunedin Railway Station yesterday morning, after cycling in to town from St Leonards.

The breakfast was organised by cycling advocacy group Spokes and funded by the Dunedin City Council.

Spokes president Heike Cebulla said despite the drizzly weather, she was pleased with the turnout of "hardy" cyclists.

The free breakfast was a "great place to find your community".

Coffee and muesli were on offer, as well as bike tune-ups and demo e-bikes.

Cyclists also had the opportunity to sign two petitions, to be presented to the council, which aim to make Dunedin a safer place to cycle.
