The winner of the Weet-bix Stat Attack 2 competition has had his dream of meeting the All Blacks dashed because of scheduling issues.
Darren Tweedie (8), of Invercargill, collected 39 Stat Attack cards from the cereal boxes and competed against players from throughout the country to win the competition.
He was very excited about his prize, a trip to Auckland to spend a day at Rainbow's End, along with receiving a signed All Blacks jersey from a couple of his idols.
His joy turned to disappointment when he received a letter telling him the All Blacks would not be able to meet him because of changes in their schedule.
"I'm really disappointed," he said yesterday.
His mother, Marene, said meeting the players was the biggest part of the prize and now it was not going to happen.
Darren, along with his mother and brother, will still fly to Auckland on December 4.
