Seagulls prey on cockles, snails and hermit crabs living in shells. The seagulls cannot pry open or crack the shells with their beaks, so instead they carry them up in the air and then drop them from a height on to a hard surface.
In this instance the seagull wasn’t so smart and dropped the snail into the water where it disappeared back to the safety of deep water.
