Saddle Hill Community Board members met at the new Brighton Surf Clubrooms on Thursday.
Chairman Scott Weatherall said the meeting was the first public community meeting in the clubrooms, which would be officially opened this weekend.
On Friday night, an invitation-only event would thank tradesmen and suppliers who worked on the rebuild and on Saturday morning another event would thank club members for their continued support throughout the rebuild.
''For putting up with operating out of five shipping containers - a temporary surf club - last summer.''
At 1.15pm on Saturday, the building would be blessed by Otakau runanga elder Edward Ellison and officially opened by Dunedin Mayor Dave Cull.
A cocktail evening would be held on Saturday night for the ''most significant'' supporters of the five-year rebuild project including club members, working parties and the building committee.
On Sunday, between 10am and noon, was the official public community opening, he said.
''We want everybody and anybody who wants to come along and be a part of it have a look around and we'll put on a cup of tea, coffee, pikelets and scones.''
